Recover and Conquer

Took the last couple of days off… literally just rested… gave my hamstrings and quads time to recover from the 9.3 mile pounding last Saturday. Spent time with the kids, did some Halloween activities, including a pretty cool pumpkin carving of Jack Skellington (had to use a dinner knife as all my carving tools went missing during our moving prep). Now I’m slightly under two weeks out from Wine & Dine, and going to definitely take it easy. The current plan is to do at least 3 5K distances on the treadmill to maintain conditioning, then light activity next week in preparation for the half marathon.

I’m definitely anxious going into the half, as this will be a distance I have not yet conquered. Chalk that up to inconsistent training along with the way. However, I know that having gone nearly 10 miles so far, I can push ahead and get that last 5K conquered. Expect an interesting post from me the next day as I attempt to walk relatively pain-free.

If you’re planning to run the Wine & Dine, or will be spectating, I’ll be wearing a special Chip’n’Dale Runner shirt custom-made for the event. Scan the large QR code on my back to visit this site and get a few special surprises!
