Tomorrow morning, I’m heading down to the King of Prussia, PA to take part in the Crush Childhood Cancer 5K, running for Team Aidan. Aidan is the son of a coworker who was diagnosed with a highly fatal form of pediatric brain cancer. He has been through radiation treatment, more tests than I care to imagine, and is now taking part in a clinical trial that shows promise (and for which only a certain specific tissue type was eligible). He’s doing well given the circumstances, and his family is donating any money raised through this raise back to the trial. It is a great cause, and this is one race that I won’t question waking up at 6am on a Saturday or the possible threat of rain during the race. It’s for a good cause and a friend, and a little dude that doesn’t deserve the hand he got dealt. If you’re reading this, say a prayer for him and all the other kids fighting against diseases that make their childhood a struggle.
