With the kids off at Winter Zoo Camp (hey, it’s a great way to get them out of the house for a day doing something they like), I headed out for what would be my last long run before Goofy at WDW Marathon Weekend. Temps were in the 40’s, and it should have been a nice morning for a run… boy, was I wrong. This was the “not really feeling it run”, and I basically crept up to 13 miles and called it quits. Legs and muscles in general started hurting, and I wasn’t in the mood to trek on for something that risked injury. While I don’t want to go into Goofy undertrained, I’ve completed 2 other marathons, including Goofy last year without a full book of training behind me, so I know I can do it. runDisney also gives you a very nice time cushion of 16-minutes per mile AFTER the last runner starts. Since I’m not running in the last corral, I’ve got an extra buffer.
These runs are bound to happen from time to time, I just wasn’t expecting it at this one. Maybe tripping along the way was an omen of how the whole thing would turn out. All I can do is rest, and get ready for Goofy 2.0 in less than 2 weeks!
