8 years to this day I took a big leap in my life, and got married. Little did I expect in that time, how much things would change. Mostly good, but unfortunately some not so good. A few family members, both human and furry, are no longer with us. But at the same time, we have two wonderful kids, and a lot of memories. I still can’t believe two more years till the big 10-year anniversary.
Unfortunately, last night when I brought home some flowers and a small gift for my wife (due to the impending snow on the ground today), little did I know the flu shot my 4-year old son got around 1:30pm would cause a bad reaction, leading to a sleepless night and 105 degree fever. Yeah, you read that right… 105 degrees. Thankfully, he seems a lot better today after numerous freeze pops, a lukewarm bath, and all the other usual TLC that goes along with getting better. I suppose there is a chance he got a virus on top of the vaccine that caused all this, but honestly. I have a feeling it was a really bad reaction. I think we’ll take our chances next year without. I never had a flu shot growing up, and I did just fine. Yes, there’s a chance of getting seriously ill, but compared to what we went through, if that’s what happens with a reaction, I’ll roll the dice.
So today, everyone is tired, schools are closed. I got to play outside in the snow with Elaina (after shoveling the driveway and sidewalks of course). I actually don’t mind shoveling the new house… there’s more surface to shovel, but more places to put the snow. Plus a nice big backyard to go sledding in. Now if I could just get myself back into a regular exercise/running routine, since I do have another half marathon in less than 90 days.
