Out with the Old… and in with?

The Asics GT-2000’s have been my go-to running shoe since I started this crazy sport January of 2013. My 2nd pair was nearing the end of its life, so I figured a trip to the running store was in order. This time around, I opted for something with a bit more cushioning, and settled on the Asics Foundation 8. I’m not fond of the color scheme, but definitely felt a huge difference when I took them out for a run… and what a run it was.

A nice 7.5 miler today on the NorBath Trail right up the street from my house. I’m still in shock that I put that many miles in, but aside from some right ball of foot issues, the new shoes felt great. A trip to the drugstore for metatarsal pads may be in order. After returning from the long run, I took each of my kids out for a quick quarter mile jog up and down the street. They are excited for the kid’s races coming up before my next half marathon.

I’ve also pretty much convinced myself to sign up for the 2015 WDW Marathon. My only question is whether I will just do the marathon, or go completely nuts and try the Goofy Challenge (half + full on back-to-back days). I know that if I sign up for it, I have more than enough time to properly train and get in the right condition for either. It’s the 10th Anniversary of the Goofy Challenge, making it the perfect year to attempt it. Stay tuned for more updates… race registration opens on April 16.
