A Back-breaking Experience

Ok… not quite back-breaking, but my back feels like it went through a grinder… we are actually all moved now. I made my last trip to Adams Street, walked the house one last time, took down my expensive shelves in the old garage, and locked up the house. Tomorrow, that gets signed over to the new owners and I’m back to being a homeowner of one house.

Kinda scary how much stuff we’ve amassed in eight years. The new house, while much bigger in square footage, has a lot of work that we’ll need to do over the next few weeks/months. Places we used to store things in the old house aren’t the same in the new house, so there will be some adjustment, but overall, I’m really excited for this new chapter of our lives. I just wish I would have taken my own advice and rented a moving truck to do it in one or two large runs, rather than the 20-30 smaller runs we did. My whole body aches, and I thought the half marathon I ran earlier in the month was bad. Maybe it’s just the different muscles used, or the fact that I’m getting older… either way, I really hope I never have to move again.

Sitting here in the new “office” (aka the spare bedroom), with a pretty nice view of our old neighborhood, Holly is curled up on the floor next to me, as she has been following me around the house like a loyal dog usually does. Wonder how long that will continue… I know it’s all new to her and the cat, but I hope they soon realize that it’s their new home with the same family. I love those girls!

On the running front, I’m hoping I can back to regular training soon, preferably once my back feels better… it’s less than 3 months till the Disney Princess Half Marathon, which will be #2 for me.
