Having gotten back into a semi-regular running routine, and still dealing with some runner’s knee issues (that I honestly attribute to bad running form and rolling my foot outwards more than I should), I planned today to be the day I did a 5-6 mile run in prep for the back-to-back 5K/10K combo I’ll be running this Saturday at the Runner’s World Festival in Bethlehem, PA.
What I didn’t plan on was a trip to Grim’s Greenhouse, complete with a rather large (6 acre) corn maze, a long (20 minute) hayride, and a large order of apple fries with caramel sauce (very tasty). After that fun watching the kids play in sand, corn, and hay, got a chance to throw some footballs, and then came home to do the run. I felt pretty good overall, but was a bit slower than I anticipated, coming in at around a 5.2mph overall pace. I’m hoping for close to 5.5 come this Saturday, and especially for the half marathon next month in Disney, but I’ll take it. Wondering how sore I’ll be tomorrow. (Realizing now that pre-race eating may have had something to do it… apple fries probably aren’t the best fuel option)
