Well, things have been quiet on the blog… and most of that is due to a combination of the new CTO job, and just getting over being sick. I haven’t run in earnest at all the last two weeks… between the beginning of the illness, the actual being sick part, and then recovering, it just wasn’t working. I finally got on the treadmill and pounded 3.1 tonight. I felt pretty good and kept a solid pace without feeling burnt out. Maybe the time off actually helped in the long run.
We’re now under a month from Goofy, and that 39.3 mile back-to-back combo is definitely starting to weigh on my mind. Hopefully I can get a solid 20 mile run in before the holidays, then taper/rest until the main event. I have a feeling this may be a one and done kinda thing – run the marathon – cross it off my bucket list – go back to running halfs!
I also need to comment on the holiday season, and the emergence of nastier than normal drivers. It’s the season to not stop at red lights, stop signs, or for emergency vehicles. Memo to those drivers – just remember that if you’re ever in need of emergency services and someone blocks the ambulance – karma sucks!
And now back to our regularly scheduled Advent…
