After having not run for a while, the anxiety for Goofy (running a half and my first full back-to-back) is rising. I decided to try a little experiment today. There’s a paved canal trail not too far from my house. It’s essentially a 2.5 mile trip if I start at one end, and go out and back. I figured why not try walking it to see if I maintain a pace less than the 16 min/mile mandatory pace for runDisney events. The good news is I kept around 15:35 throughout. The bad news – I had to stop after 5 miles due to time constraints. Based on this, I know I can walk a decent chunk if I have to. Now the next issue is getting at least one major long run in before the New Year. I need some time to rest and taper, so the plan is the day after Christmas. With Goofy less than a month away, praying for injury and illness free days.
